1名19歲加州男子嘗試1次合成大麻就因而喪命，他的母親透過媒體呼籲社會大眾小心這種毒品，「希望大家知道這個有多危險，絕對不是兒戲」。

艾克哈特（Veronica Eckhardt）經歷喪子打擊之後，透過臉書及媒體呼籲社會大眾，千萬不能輕忽合成大麻的危險。

艾克哈特說，19歲兒子康諾爾（Connor Eckhardt）7月11日在同儕壓力下，嘗試了1次合成大麻就陷入昏迷，從此不曾清醒。康諾爾被緊急送醫後，搶救數日仍回天乏術，7月16日宣告腦死。

不同香料、藥草混合化學物質製成的合成大麻（synthetic cannabinoid），在美國俗稱「香料」（Spice）、「K2」或「史酷比點心」（Scooby snacks）。今年2月，美國緝毒局（DEA）將4種市面上新出現的合成大麻列入「一級管制藥品」（Schedule I drugs），製造、運送或銷售這些毒品，均屬違法。

艾克哈特接受媒體訪問時表示，兒子因為不了解合成大麻的高度危險，才會因此喪失性命，「這是非常真實的，請大家幫助我們一起對抗這種毒品。」1030818
