【綜合報導】先前研究指出，形成一夫一妻制的哺乳類動物，是為了保護後代子孫，不過根據劍橋大學最新研究指出，雄性哺乳類動物遵守一夫一妻，是要保護自己的伴侶，因為適合的另一半並不是那麼容易找到。
 
先前科學家研究，發現在不是一夫一妻制的哺乳類動物中，雄性有時會殺害幼獸以督促雌性更快交配，但在一夫一妻制的哺乳類動物中，雄性較可能照顧幼獸並保護牠們，在這樣環境下成長的幼獸通常也比較聰明，因此認為哺乳類動物演化成一夫一妻制是為了保障後代。
 
這次科學家研究2500種哺乳類動物發現，雄性選擇一夫一妻制是確保繁衍的手段，由於某些雌性動物分布範圍廣泛，雄性只能選擇其中一名雌性動物，才能保障有對象繁衍下一代，因此雄性會緊隨鎖定的雌性動物，當對方的貼身保鑣。

科學家表示接下來將研究，生態環境壓力是否也影響一夫一妻制的演化。

【綜合報導】美國前情報人員史諾登(Edward Snowden)再爆料，英國《衞報》昨日報導，美國國家安全局一個叫「Xkeyscore」的系統，能嚴密監控全球網路數據，讓分析員可在未經批准情況下，搜索龐大網路數據庫，相當於幾百萬人的電郵、瀏覽和網上聊天記錄等。

2012年Xkeyscore在1個月內存儲的各類監控數據記錄高達410億條，史諾登稱曾獲授權使用Xkeyscore。他曾形容只要有相應的電子郵件地址，他就可以對任何人進行監控，下至平民百姓，上至法官總統。資料也顯示Xkeyscore計劃，協助美國情報機構在2008年拘捕300名恐怖份子。
